Man on Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender List arrested
AUSTIN, Texas – A man on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list was arrested in California on Monday.
John Arthur Volker was born in New Jersey but has lived most of his life in Texas.
In two separate incidents in 1991 and 1995, Volker had sexual contact with a three-year-old female and a nine-year-old female. Both victims came forward about the incidents in 1998. Volker received seven years’ probation in 1999 and was required to register for life as a sex offender.
At the time of his 1999 conviction, Volker was living in Humble, Texas, but moved a month later to Houston, where he failed to register.
In 2000, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office issued three warrants for Volker’s arrest for two counts of Indecency with a Child and one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
In 1999, Volker had been working as a Restoration Technician and is not known to have held any employment since then.
John Arthur Volker, 50, was on the run for nearly 15 years before being arrested by the Long Beach Police Department for disorderly conduct. Authorities say Volker was wanted for violating his probation.
Volker is now awaiting extradition back to Texas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
