LV Teacher & boyfriend charged in Child Sexual Assault

Las Vegas, Nevada – A former special education teacher at Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy, a Las Vegas school founded by the tennis superstar, has been charged along with her ex-boyfriend for allegedly sexually assaulting a child for four years.

Shannon Giardino, 41, was arrested Tuesday and charged with three counts of sexual assault and one count of child abuse of an underage female family member, KLAS reported.

Her old beau, 41-year-old Jose Adrian Garcia, got lobbed with three counts of sexual assault of a minor under 14 and four counts of lewdness with a child.

Both are being held in county jail and are due in court next month.

The victim said she was assaulted by Giardino and Garcia between the time she was in fourth and eighth grades, police said. The accusations finally came out when the girl told her stepmother about it during a family visit out-of-state.

The girl’s relationship to her alleged accusers is not clear, but she was not a student of Giardino.

Giardino was fired from the Agassi Academy after her arrest, and the school said in a statement it “acted promptly and appropriately at all times.”

The Agassi Academy is a K-12 school founded in 2001 by Agassi, a Las Vegas native who is widely considered one of the world’s best tennis players. He donated $35 million and raised even more than that to start the school, but has no administrative role there.
