SUTTON, Alaska – A 32-year-old Sutton man was jailed on numerous charges after he allegedly suffocated, strangled and beat a preteen family member.
According to Alaska State Troopers, Kenji Thao is charged with two counts of third-degree assault domestic violence and one count of fourth-degree assault domestic violence.
A trooper dispatch about the arrest claims troopers received a report from the Office of Children’s Services that Thao had “assaulted a family member who was underage by suffocating them, covering their nose and mouth with his hand, strangling them with a belt and hitting them causing injury.”
Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters said the alleged victim required medical attention but wasn’t transported to the hospital.
Thao was taken to Mat-Su Pretrial and held without bail.
