LAWTON, OK – A man faces two charges of child abuse Friday night for the beating of his girlfriend’s one-year-old daughter.
Investigators questioned Eddie Cano Monday after the child was brought to the hospital, unresponsive, with bruises all over her body, and a large knot on her forehead. Doctors discovered the child also had bleeding in her brain, and determined her injuries were consistent with child abuse, and that her chances of survival were extremely low. Cano later told police he had spanked the child with a sandal several times, on at least two occasions, and that he “blacked out” while it was happening.
Police also arrested the child’s mother, Joann Garza, after she admitted that Cano had beaten her child at least twice a week for the past three weeks, and left bruises each time. She was charged Friday with a felony count of enabling child abuse.
At last report, the child was in critical condition
I am at a loss for words. I can never understand how it can be so easy for me to see, for it is right there, in front of you, in your face.
OH, if I were only a Knight, a Paladin, This man would be my Bard…. WHAT’S THAT???? OH NO, My Friend, for I already have My Merlin, whose words can be your worst nightmare, or the Bar Maid, or so you think; when this Bard sings or expounds his poetry, they will make a movie one day of 3, not 300.
I fail to see how the love of one’s own self can overshadow the reality of what is happening to so many, and the one’s that suffer the most are the Elders and the Children.
Yesterday can NOT be changed, all that matters is what is done from this point on.
How can we put an end to Bullying when DAY AFTER DAY, another parent loses the only income for the home, or is forced to take a cut in pay, then obviously one of the first cuts in expenses for the family will be the child’s phone or possibly internet, or the badly needed pair of shoes.
Why is it such a NON-ISSUE that 75% of the population make less money every year than the year before, and if you don’t believe this, count the money in your pocket every day, AFTER EXPENSES.
How can health insurance rise by at least 100%, when, in-effect, GROUP RATES MAKE INSURANCE CHEAPER????
YES, GROUP RATES, SINCE EVERY CITIZEN OF THE U.S.A. HAS TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, AND WE ARE ALL CITIZENS, SO THEREFORE WE ARE A GROUP.
I hope you are finally listening, because we are in this together, and this lifeboat is leaking. WE can make it, but we have to work together. We can still have disagreements between neighbors, but some things are more important and need to be taken care of immediately.
PRICES NEED TO REFLECT AND BE WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF THE LAWS OF THIS LAND, AND THESE LAWS ARE WHAT GUARANTEES THE FREEDOMS AFFORDED AS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN!!!!
DROP THE PRICE OF HEALTH INSURANCE BACK TO PRICES BEFORE THIS UNDER-THE-COUNTER DEAL, AND THEN GIVE US ALL A STANDARD PRICE PER PERSON ON A GROUP PLAN, WITH NO HMOs.
DROP THE ERR-MARK ON CORN FOR 10 YEARS.
PUT THE COAL FIRED PLANTS BACK ON LINE FOR 10 YEARS.
BRING BACK COMPANIES FOR JOBS AT A GUARANTEED NUMBER PER YEAR, STARTING WITH OUR STEEL PLANTS WHERE METALS ALWAYS, YEAR AFTER YEAR, MET GOVERNMENT STANDARDS.
DO NOT RELEASE ANY ONE FROM PRISON EARLY, IT IS TIME FOR EVERYONE TO PAY THE PRICE EQUALLY FOR THEIR CRIMES.
HOLD ALL GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES ACCOUNTABLE WITH MANDATORY PRISON FOR CPS EMPLOYEES FOR CRIMES AGAINST FAMILIES IN MANUFACTURING EVIDENCE, ERASING ANSWERING MACHINES, THROWING CASE FILES INTO THE DUMPSTER, AND IGNORING CALLS, MISSING VISITS, AND MAKING FALSE CALLS.
Collusion? The King’s Clothes? Climate Change? A Dead Lion? Guns That Kill People? Justice? DARE????
My guts knot like struck with a BAT, as the BLACK LIMO passes, in the cold CANADIAN REALITY. I stir from my Rip Van Winkle slumber….
You talk, yet say nothing. You move, yet that go no where. You act, yet do nothing.
You sing Holy, Holy, Holy, with hate and greed in your hearts, with no thoughts of the Child’s future you stole last night.
I HAVE SOMETHING YOU NEVER IMAGINED FROM THE ’90s: that speaks of the number of innocent CHILDREN that will fall through the cracks…. HOW CAN CHILDREN BE CONSIDERED “JUST COLLATERAL DAMAGE”????
The Judge ruled inadmissible to the cocaine evidence, inadmissible to the alcohol, that was given to young girls and young boy, inadmissible to the threats of a gun, inadmissible to the threats, physical abuse and assault on the young boy, inadmissible to the FACT that the young boy should have walked free because of HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS ALONE.
The Judge ruled NO APPEAL!!!! Yet more than 2 jurors were in violation of the LAWS OF OUR LAND. Like it or not, JUSTICE WAS SERVED that night when a CHILD PREDATOR did NOT rape the young girls, and what remained of his alcohol was still in the back seat, enough for another very large party. JUSTICE WAS SERVED when the 30-year-old less-than- a-man, died at the hand of a young boy, who was already A GOOD MAN.
The STANDARDS set by OUR Government, have been, and are still being ignored, at the expense of FREE WORLD PEOPLE AND COMPANIES.
How can Chevrolet be held ALONE accountable for a very tiny number of faulty ignition switches PRODUCED AND BUILT BY CHINA. How can metal standards be ignored when SUB-STANDARD METAL PARTS FROM CHINA have caused accidents and many deaths.
HOW CAN SUB-STANDARD METAL FROM CHINA split or break and pollute the environment, and CHINA NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE???? The fact that metal from China was used in the Blow-Out-Preventer (BOP) is no secret, yet BP was held ALONE ACCOUNTABLE in the Gulf Of Mexico Oil Leak Disaster.
Our people have no jobs while plants that produce products that MEET EVERY STANDARD set down by the Government, including safety standards, sit idle.
There is NO GLOBAL WARMING, all you have to do is look at the coast: Galveston Island is in Texas, and the water level is THE VERY SAME as it has been for over 50 years.
There is no OZONE DEPLETION, NOR HOLE IN THE OZONE LAYER, refer to CATATUMBO LIGHTNING. Besides, what kind of idiot believes there is a way to actually measure the ozone that SURROUNDS THIS EARTH.
IN 20 years, there will be no visible change in the earths atmosphere, with ALL OUR COAL FIRED POWER PLANTS RUNNING, IF, AND I SAY IF, WE FORCE OUR GOVERNMENT TO STOP POLLUTING OUR WATER PURIFICATION SYSTEM.
Our people would have money to feed their families with electric prices 1/20th of what clean energy costs. STOP EAR-MARKING 65% of all corn crops for ethanol production. Prices for meat, poultry, and farm-raised fish will drop, as will 50 to 60% of grocery products.
Just these things alone will reduce the demand for government help over 35%
BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR CHILDREN???? THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID A STEADY DECLINE AND SURE LOSS OF HOPE FOR OUR CHILDREN WITH THIS PERVERSION OF OUR LAWS.
There is no possible way for Children to retain the innocence of a Child with ANYTHING PERVERSE IN THEIR SIGHT, MUCH LESS IN THE HOME THEY RESIDE IN, AND THIS INCLUDES DRUGS, ALCOHOL AND ESPECIALLY VIOLENCE IN ANY FORM!!!!
Enact LAWS THAT MAKE ANY OF THESE ILLEGAL, WITH SENTENCES STARTING AT 18 YEARS, BECAUSE WHEN YOU STEAL A CHILD’S INNOCENCE, YOU HAVE STOLEN 18 YEARS OF THEIR LIFE.
FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington is pleased to announce ”A Look at the High Costs of Childhood Abuse and Neglect,” a public presentation by Katherine Kemp, UMF lecturer in rehabilitation services. The second topic in UMF’s popular “The Public Classroom” faculty speaker series, this lecture will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 7, in the Emery Community Arts Center on the UMF campus.
A serious and prevalent public health problem in the U.S., child abuse and neglect has reached a critical level in Maine, and specifically in Franklin County. Overall, more than 100 children in every 1,000 living in Franklin County experience some form of abuse and/or neglect each year—an estimated 1 in every 10 children.
Although neglect is considered to be the most common form of abuse, many also experience chronic physical, emotional and sexual abuse. Research during the past twenty years demonstrates that an array of human and social problems resists solutions if we do not respond to the urgent need to prevent the abuse and neglect of our children.
In this talk, Kemp introduces three branches of science that have allowed for the greater exploration of knowledge about the effects of psychological trauma, abuse and neglect. These are neuroscience, the study of how the brain supports mental processes; developmental psychopathology, the study of the impact of adverse experiences on the development of minds and brain; and interpersonal neurobiology, the study of how our behavior influences the emotions, biology and mind-sets of those around us.
Kemp will also introduce the ACE study, an ongoing collaboration between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Kaiser Permanente, as a tool to analyze and solidify the relationship between childhood trauma and the risk for physical and mental health disabilities in adulthood.
Kemp’s area of expertise is working with individuals with severe and persistent mental health disabilities in the field of case management and counseling. A licensed clinical social worker, she is a teacher and advocate with a strong belief in the strength of community partnerships as a tool to challenge and change this serious public health problem. She works diligently to help students appreciate the critical connection between social problems, social programs and policy and how research contributes to the competency of a profession and leads to evidence-based systems change.
Kemp received her Masters of Social Work at the University of New England.
“The Public Classroom” series is sponsored by the UMF Office of the President. Lectures in this series are free and open to the public.
