An employee at the Maine State Museum said her instincts kicked in when she saw an alleged attempted abduction.
Sharon Wise, 65, was at the museum reception desk on Tuesday when she saw a man run over to a 2-year-old girl and start to pull her by her wrist, according to ABC News affiliate WMTW-TV in Augusta, Maine. Wise said it all happened while the little girl’s grandmother was hanging up their coats.
“He grabbed a hold of the little girl and grabbed a hold of her wrist and he starts pulling her,” Wise told WMTW-TV. “At that point, instinctively I bent over and hovered over the child. I kept saying in a very low voice, leave her alone.”
Wise said the man did not leave the girl alone but instead kept pulling her. That’s when Wise, acting on instinct, managed to get between the man and the young girl, according to WMTW-TV. “I looked him right in the eye and I was really close to him and I said, ‘Let go of her now,’ and he waited for a minute, looked me right in the eye and he dropped her hand and left,” she said.
Minutes after he left, the man identified as James Cavallaro was arrested by police in the museum parking lot. “When he grabbed her, she [Wise] went right over and told him to let go and wouldn’t take no for an answer,” Chief Russell Gauvin of the Bureau of Capitol Police told The Associated Press. Cavallaro was charged with assault and held at the Kennebec County Jail.
I knew nothing about a page of this type for Google, it was like Mandarin Chinese early in August when I looked it over, so I didn’t want to admit that this looked doubtful even in daydreaming stage.
That’s when I remembered Lewis and his blog, so I came looking for a Childhood Friend with a blog. I didn’t find my old buddy, but WordPress did something few people ever have, except for a group of mostly Veterans on Google+, they was nice to me. None of my friends ever heard this part WordPress, BUT, they did hear about the idiot in the forum. A lot of these friends are a lot like me in some ways, and someone whose mommie bought them the superman model computer, complete with cape, utility belt, and decoder ring, might just forget he wasn’t superman one day and talk down to a real Popeye the Sailor. So you get the idea.
Thank You WordPress for that first day, I figured you might tell superman that it’s your fault for him not running me off.
Irving man charged with murder of girlfriend’s son
An Irving man is in jail in connection to a toddler’s death.
According to police, Michael Mercado, 25, was watching his girlfriend’s son alone on November 19 when he called 911, claiming 2 1/2 –year-old Dionicio Mendoza was having a seizure. The boy has no history of health issues.
Dionicio was transported to Children’s Medical Center Dallas and was placed on a ventilator. Police say he had obvious signs of trauma to the body, with injuries all over his body as well as internal injuries.
Police questioned Mercado on what had happened and say that what he said happened was inconsistent with the child’s injuries.
Dionicio had been on life support until Friday, when doctors scanned his brain and declared him dead. An autopsy has not yet been performed to determine the cause of death and they are preparing to harvest his organs.
Mercado was arrested on Friday and charged with capital murder. He is currently in the Irving Jail with no bond.
Teenager who ran Canadian prostitution ring jailed
A teenage girl was jailed for six-and-a-half years Tuesday for drugging and beating girls as young as 13 into prostitution in Canada’s capital Ottawa after luring them through social media. The 18-year-old ring leader was only 15 when she was arrested along with two other girls in 2012.
She had faced a maximum sentence of three years under Canadian law for youths, but prosecutors took the rare step of asking that she be sentenced as an adult, which carries a much higher penalty. One of her accomplices was previously sentenced to three years in prison while the other is still awaiting sentencing.
Acting on their own without adult guidance, the girls used social media to lure victims to a suburban Ottawa home where they would be encouraged or forced to take drugs, and then delivered up to adult clients. If they refused, they were threatened with violence and blackmail. One victim was forced kicking and screaming into a man’s car at a gas station. She escaped but was quickly caught and dragged back. Another’s clothes were ripped off in the basement of a house and she was photographed naked.
The youngest victim’s mother dropped off her daughter at the home of one of the accused for a sleepover. The girl returned home distraught the next day, wearing makeup, heels and a trench coat that didn’t belong to her.
The court heard that one of the accused would send photographs of a new recruit to prospective men from her cellphone, and if they agreed, she would send the girl by taxi to the man’s home to sell sex. Police eventually broke up the prostitution ring in June 2012 after one of the victims complained to her mother, who informed authorities.
