Alabama  –  A Gadsden man is facing child sexual abuse charges, as well as possession and production charges involving child pornography.

Thomas Aaron Craig, 30, was arrested Thursday, according to Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Craig has been charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of production of pornography with minors.

Investigators say Craig sexually abused a 9-year-old girl over a two-year period.  When the victim saw a school presentation about what to do if a student is physically or sexual battered, she told a teacher she had been abused.  The teacher notified the sheriff’s office and the Etowah County Department of Human Resources.  The James M. Barrie Center for Children also assisted in the investigation.

Entrekin said investigators found more than 35 pornographic images on Craig’s cellphone.

He is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $150,000 cash bond
