5 dead, including gunman, in Georgia shooting

DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. – A quiet, suburban neighborhood outside Atlanta was left reeling after a man shot six people — killing four of them, including his ex-wife and several children — before ending the rampage by fatally turning the gun on himself, police said.

The shooting happened Saturday around 3 p.m. in a subdivision about 20 miles west of Atlanta, Douglas County Sheriff’s Lt. Glenn Daniel said.

Horrified neighbors called 911 and then tried to help the severely injured victims as best they could before rescuers arrived.

The shooter, whose name was not immediately released, appeared to have targeted his ex-wife and her household, shooting victims inside and outside the house, Daniel said. Several children were gunned down as they fled on a street, neighbors said.

Authorities did not release the names of the victims because they were still trying Saturday to contact the next of kin. Investigators believe the gunman killed himself at the end of the shooting spree.

Police were still trying to determine the shooter’s motive and piece together what happened.

“I’ve been in law enforcement out here 20 years and this is the worst I’ve ever seen,” Daniel said. He did not know when the couple divorced or if they had prior contact with police.

Teresa Carter, 59, said she heard the gunfire from inside her home but did not see what happened. Carter said she often saw the children playing in the driveway and around the neighborhood. They enjoyed petting her dog.  “I heard shots, and I heard the girl scream,” Carter said. “And then I heard four more shots.”

Brandon Hallman was working on a car a few houses down when the shooting started.  “I heard a couple quick shots, you know, back to back to back. Went out there and, you know, looked and it was already over,” Hallman said. “We just grabbed some towels and kind of went down there to try and help before the paramedics got here.”

Another neighbor, Angela Ansah, struggled to explain to her own children what happened to their slain friends a few houses down. Ansah said some of the children targeted Saturday often came over to her house to play with her own children.

“These are children I see every day, every blessed day,” Ansah said.

Ohio delays execution of child killer

Man that killed 3-year-old
Ronald Phillips

COLUMBUS – Ohio said Thursday that it’s dropping the two-drug combination administered to an inmate who repeatedly gasped and snorted during a troubling 26-minute execution.

The state prisons agency also said it will again allow the use of an anesthetic that it used from 1999 through 2011.

The announcement that it’s adding thiopental sodium back to the execution policy immediately raised questions of where the state would obtain such a drug.

In 2011, the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction switched to pentobarbital when the manufacturer restricted thiopental sodium’s distribution, making it impossible to obtain for executions.
As part of Thursday’s announcement, the state said the Feb. 11 execution of a condemned child killer is being delayed as the agency secures supplies of the new drug.

The state said in addition to delaying the execution of Ronald Phillips, set to die for the 1993 rape and killing of his girlfriend’s 3-year-old daughter, other executions might also be delayed.

Kasich signed a bill into law last month that would shield the names of companies providing lethal drugs to Ohio. The goal of the bill is to make it easier to obtain compounded pentobarbital, the state’s first choice for executions but which it hasn’t been able to find.

Four death row inmates have sued over the new law, saying it restricts information that helps inform the public debate over capital punishment.

After December 2013 Abuse, woman is charged with federal first-degree murder

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A Fort Campbell woman has been charged with murdering a Clarksville infant who was in her care.

Sheilla Linares is charged with the death of 2-month old Thomas Castellon II. She was served an indictment on Friday, but her warrant remains sealed, according to Stephanie Collins, spokeswoman for the Western District of Kentucky U.S. Attorney’s office.

Linares is charged with federal first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death. She is accused of abusing Thomas Jr. on or about Dec. 3, 2013. He died of his injuries four days later.

While her son was in the care of Linares, Lucy Castellon, Thomas’ mother, received a phone call that her son was not responding and had aspirated. She later found out he had brain hemorrhaging and swelling from shaken baby syndrome, according to a previous report.

An autopsy determined the child died from blunt force trauma to the head, and the death was ruled a homicide. Linares admitted to officers that she shook the child at her Fort Campbell home, according to a Clarksville Police report.

Family members were in disbelief when they heard of the injuries. “She was our friend, and I didn’t want to believe it,” Lucy Castellon previously said.  The woman had taken care of their daughter, Aurora, for the previous four years.

In September, the family held a balloon release in honor of what would’ve been Thomas Jr.’s first birthday. At that time, no charges had been filed and the investigation continued.  Lucy Castellon said they have patiently waited on the justice system and knew it was a matter of time, before the case progressed.

Monday  Lucy Castellon said her family is glad an arrest has been made.  “Obviously, it’s a big relief something has been done,” Lucy Castellon said. “They told us she is facing life in prison. It was a relief to know she wasn’t just facing 12-15 years, because nobody’s life can be valued at that. He was our son and would have lived many years. “We have been praying for justice, and we are happy we are getting it.”

A detention hearing scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Paducah, Kentucky.  Magistrate Judge Lanny King will preside over the case.

Innocence

Implanting Indifference in Children’s Hearts

I can’t remember ever being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  This post is the first of it’s kind from this Editor, totally off the top of my head.  I can only imagine the look on the face of a certain man who writes with 2 instruments, a rapier and a 2-handed sword (wouldn’t you know it, he has a new friend that has the same style).

I was very prepared for this post early this morning, but I trusted my feelings (I had a teacher who looked as if I had thrown cold water on him,  when I said these words for the first time, he calmly set his rapier aside and said “You win, I’ll teach you Latin”).  The more research I did, the angrier I got, so here we are, shall we begin.

What are the virtues of a Good Parent?  One who accidentally gives their child a dose of morphine?  A parent who disciplines their young child by making her stand outside in the cold for 2 hours?  A parent whose babysitter is a hot car in summer temperatures?  A parent that believes drugs ruined America, and molests his children at night?  Or the lenient parents who let the child run wild, who now has an STD at a very young age? Or perhaps one of these: habitual liar, drinks alcohol, cusses every 4 words, uses drugs, violent, or somewhere down the road you find out your siblings are all dead…  Murdered Before They Were BORN.

I found something wrong with every site I selected for their “input” on virtues of a good parent, with the exception of maybe 2.  I Do Not believe in whipping a child like an animal (I purposely used these words..  I WILL warn you that if a certain person sees you mistreating an animal, you will never do it again), although if a child is given a rule from the the first moment they begin walking, like when they come in the kitchen while a meal is being prepared, and go to the hot cook stove.  If you are a wise parent, this will be an early rule, “no-no sweetheart hot hot, burn my Baby”;  sooner or later, if this continues to the point where you just got on this child for doing something else wrong, and you see the child out of the corner of your eye, glance at you and head straight for that stove, it’s action time.  What happens here is the beginning of making a spoiled brat, or a child who follows house rules, and GOD’S rules, Honor your Father and Mother..

It is NOT Good Parenting for a child to see or hear it’s parents do or say any of the above, nor see their parents do vile things.  No One on this Earth is completely innocent, but a child is as close as it gets, and it is WRONG to take this away from them.  I saw the statement “1 in 3 women will have an abortion in their lifetime”, then I noticed there is a “1 in 3 Campaign” which is a project of ADVOCATES FOR YOUTH?  Furthermore, their motto is “Rights, Respect, Responsibility?  These people are teaching Children that MURDER is OK.  I have got 1 thing to say to “ADVOCATES FOR YOUTH”, and anyone who takes the innocence of a Child.  If you believe in doing this to a Child, while you are teaching them INDIFFERENCE, teach them another language: De corde enim exeunt cogitationes malae, homicidia, adulteria, fornicationes, furta, falsa testimonia, blasphemiae:   Haec sunt, quae coinquinant hominem. Non lotis autem manibus manducare, non coinquinat hominem.
