We Are OUR CIRCLE, a group of individuals with similar values; but we all have one very important thing in common:
All Children deserve an equal chance to be Loved, Cared For, Have A Proper Diet, andKnow That They Are Safe; and as they grow be taughtHonor, Truth, Respect, Responsibility, andDutyin regard to themselves, others, and as young future citizens.
Every day we see the same people and Organizations working tirelessly, with a selfless devotion for Our Children. We are not associated with any of these Organizations, however, they have Our Admiration, Respect, and Support.
We hope each and everyone of Our Followers will remember and consider helping these fine people as they help the Children, Our Children, who are the future of this world:
National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Ark of Hope for Children, The Family Place, Operation Underground Railroad, ChildHelp.org, and ASPCC.
In 2013, The Family Place provided services in Spanish and in English to a total of 11,758 clients. Since 1978, we have counseled more than 225,000 clients, provided lifesaving shelter to more than 21,000 women, children and men, and answered more than 550,000 calls for help. We have helped more than 20,000 batterers learn how to change their abusive behavior and reach approximately 6,000 students each year through our youth education programs.
Family Violence in Dallas
38% of Texas women—more than one in three—have experienced intimate partner violence in their lifetime. (Texas Council on Family Violence)
70% of the children of abused women are also physically abused, and 20% are sexually abused. The majority of abusive men were either abused as children or witnessed their mothers being abused. (WomenKind, Inc.)
In 2013, the Dallas Police Department Family Violence Unit reported 13,007 family violence calls resulting in 1,215 aggravated assaults, 23 murders, 10,812 reported offenses, 91 sexual assault offenses, 180 violations of protective orders, and 5,782 arrests.
The 2013 Metro Dallas Homeless Alliance Point-in-Time Homeless Count found 2,972 people living on Dallas streets or in shelters. 24% of the homeless population was children, and 14% of the adult population listed domestic violence as their reason for homelessness.
Adopt-a-Family
The Family Place is a 4 Star Charity
Help us help our families by considering to adopt this year!
Here’s how it works:
Our program has families that range in size from single women to moms with up to seven children.
Submit your online request below!
Based on your response, we will match you with the appropriate sized family, and contact you with details.
You will shop for each member of the family, as well as shop for some wrapping paper, tape and bows to give to the mom to wrap the gifts for her children.
Bring the gifts, labeled with the names of the recipients, to our Holiday Donation Center.
The Family Place distributes the gifts to the families.
Not able to Adopt-a-Family this year? You can still help by participating in our Adopt-a-Shelter Program or making a donation earmarked “Adopt-a-Family” (in the “Toward a particular program” – Other” tab on our donation page), and we will take care of the shopping.
Holidays are the time to open our hearts, in a wise manner
Good Morning! This is a very heart-felt moment for myself, I am Aida, Editor for NOT IN MY WORLD!
We are joined by Our New Friends here at WordPress, and I am very happy to tell the many who have Followed us here that we have a name for you. It is the name we go by, OUR CIRCLE! In such a short time, we are over a hundred strong, but all the many hours of almost non-stop work have paid enormous dividends.
As of this morning, we have a FaceBook page also!
I want to take this unexpected opportunity to introduce two (2) Organizations who are now Our Friends, Ark of Hope for Childrenand The Family Place.
TheArk of Hope for Childrenis a Child Abuse specific Organization, as we are. and have a very powerful mission statement. “Breaking the chains of Abuse for those victimized as Children by human trafficking, Child Abuse and Bullying to lead them into lives filled with Faith, Hope and Love.” They are already in Our Circle on G+ and we will be joining with them on FaceBook.
The Family Place, whose mission statement brings a sense of security to victims of Family Violence, and many times probably Dangerous Environments, “Where Family Violence Stops. “This is a Dallas, Texas-based Organization with a 24 hr crisis hotline, Emergencey Shelter, Transitional Housing, Child Developement Center, a Safe Campus Center, Community Counseling, and Children’s Counseling, just to name a few of their services.
We want to urge everyone to please be sure the charity(s) of your choice is actually delivering an appropriate amount of service for each dollar taken in. This is a matter of public record, so if anyone has a problem finding out this information on any Organization, we will help, or arrange qualified help to facilitate your request.
Now, we will post the first Holiday Drive for The Family Place on Our 3 sites. Thank You All, and now if ALL Our Circle will Put Your Arms Tightly Around Yourself And Hug Yourself Really Good, and say I Appreciate You! We Will Post This, The First Of It’s Kind, ON OUR 3 SITES.
